Heb je ooit geprobeerd om in totale duisternis rond te lopen over een treinstation, op zoek naar het juiste perron?

Waarschijnlijk niet.

Toch zijn er zo’n 76.000 visueel beperkte mensen in Nederland die kampen met dit probleem. Ze kunnen de borden en informatie op stations niet lezen en zijn daarom veelal afhankelijk van de NS-reisassistent.

Ondanks de vele hulpmiddelen die al zijn gemaakt voor deze doelgroep, is er nog veel meer mogelijk om deze mensen zelfstandiger over stations te navigeren.

Daarom creëerde ik Visure. Een app die je navigeert over treinstations door het hele land. Doormiddel van GPS en spraak weet de app op welk station je je bevind en kun je aangeven naar welk station je wilt. Om op het juiste perron te komen maakt de app gebruik van spraak, piepjes en trillingen die je helpen om veilig en snel bij de juiste trein aan te komen.

Have you ever tried walking around over a train station in total darkness, trying to find your way to the platform?

Probably not.

Yet, there are about 76,000 visually impaired people in the Netherlands who suffer with this problem. They can’t read the signs and information at the stations and are therefore often dependent on the NS-travelassisent.

Despite the many tools that has already been created for this group, there is much more that can be done to help these people navigate through stations more independently.

That’s why I created Visure. an application that navigates you through train stations all across the land. By means of GPS and speech, the app knows which station you are at, and you can indicate to which station you want to go.

To get to the right platform, the app uses speech, beeps, and vibrations to help you get to the right train safe and quickly.
