De afgelopen jaren is het vinden van een woning op de woningmarkt steeds moeilijker geworden.
Huisjesmelkers kopen panden op om hier vervolgens mee te speculeren.
Panden blijven leegstaan en vergaan, in de hoop dat de gemeente toestemming zal geven om het pand te mogen slopen. Op de desbetreffende grond worden nieuwbouwwoningen gebouwd die meer geld opleveren of het bestemmingsplan wordt aangepast ten behoeve van een bedrijventerrein.
Woningspeculatie is onder alle omstandigheden onacceptabel maar voelt nu extra wrang middenin een wooncrisis waarin duizenden mensen op zoek zijn naar een woonruimte.
Mijn project bestaat uit een tweetal activistische posters waarin ik de schijnwerpers richt op de huisjesmelkers die zichzelf zelden laten zien maar waar mening nieuwsartikel over geschreven wordt.
In de posters breng ik de nieuwsartikelen en de gezichten samen.
De samenleving zal nu eindelijk zien wie de verantwoordelijken zijn voor de destructieve praktijken die de wooncrisis in stand houden.

Finding a livingspace in the Dutch housing market has become more and more difficult.
Slumlords purchase property with the intend to play the market.
Property remains empty and crumbles to dust with the hope that the city will allow demolition. Modern houses will be build on the property or the development plan will be adjusted to build business parks.
Playing the market with houses is unacceptable under any circumstance but does feel so much worse during a crisis where thousands of people are searching for a livingspace.
My project consists of two posters with an activist nature in which I shine the light on slumlords who rarely show themselves. There have been lot’s of news reports about them, always missing their photo.
In the poster series I combine the news reports with the corresponding faces.
Society will finally meet those who are responsible for the destructive practices that keep the housing-crisis alive.
